One of the biggest rivalry games in college football has been canceled. Michigan - Ohio State won’t be played this weekend for the first time since 1917. World War I was still raging and the world was yet to realize the Spanish Flu epidemic would kill millions around the globe, more than World War I. Ohio State doesn’t have enough games to qualify for the Big Ten title game. If they don’t make the title game, the Buckeyes probably won’t play in the College Football Playoff. Should the Big Ten make an effort to help the Buckeyes? Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

In this week’s episode Kevin interviews Dr. Paul Fanson who is a contributor over at The Only Colors and a bit of a stats guru. Paul was kind enough to join Kevin and take a detailed look at the odds and probability for the Nebraska Cornhuskers this season in terms of wins and likely seeding come Big Ten Tournament time. There is actually some interesting odds at the probability of Nebrasketball winning “whole thing” and getting an auto-bid, but you’ll have to listen to find out if you feel lucky enough on those betting odds.Paul does a great job explaining how he uses KenPom data to run simulations on the season schedule and determine most likely outcomes. We discuss in depth Nebraska’s stretches on the Big Ten schedule, which games are likely upsets or wins by the Huskers, and where the Nebraska schedule falls in terms of difficulty compared to the other Big Ten schools. Also discussed briefly is who is most likely to win the Big Ten, who got dealt the toughest schedules and who was gift-wrapped the easiest, and a few jokes at Juwan Howard’s expense. Be sure to listen to this week’s episode for the unbiased look at the numbers Husker hoops face! Please Subscribe!Be sure to download and subscribe to our podcast on whatever platform you prefer (that way you won’t miss next week’s very special episode), and you’ll also get all of the other great, but not quite as great, Corn Nation Radio podcasts as well. This week on the Five Heart Podcast, Greg, Jon, and Todd briefly discuss the malfunction that occurred on Black Friday in Iowa City. We talk about the losses that extend beyond the game, two players leaving the team and a commit opening his recruitment once again. We also discuss the notion that the Big Ten will try to manipulate the schedule to push Ohio State into the conference championship with hopes of bringing a national title back to the Big Ten. I didn’t mention this on the show, but I don’t think the Big Ten is like the SEC with the mentality of “well if it can’t be us, at least it can be someone in our conference.” There aren’t and “B-I-G” chants like there are “S-E-C.” We hate everyone. And everyone hates us. Exactly the way it should be.Jon gives us a brief update on Nebrasketball, but be looking for a new Of Bangarangs and Daggers later today.Be sure to “Use Your Voice” and became a part of the show by calling (402) 327-1830. HeyooooooOooooo! We have Purdue this week! Are you excited! It might very well be our last game of the season, so you damned well better be. Take every day as you get it, and be thankful we have football at all all given how bad the virus being hitting the fan all around the world right now.Travis Miller joins me to talk about Purdue. I am not 100% sure how long Travis has been running our Purdue site, Hammer And Rails, but he’s been around for a long time. Good guy. Always nice to talk to him.Travis and I touch on:That terrible past interference call that cost the Boilers the Minnesota game
Purdue’s excellent receiving threat of David Bell and Rondale Moore
Quarterback Jack Plummer
Is this year real or just a glorified scrimmage against live opponents?
We get into Purdue basketball toward the end - did you know they have a 7’4” guy? HOW DOES HE FIT INTO A CAR?

Yoshi Hardrick and I get together to talk about the Nebraska - Iowa game. Yoshi has played a lot of football as an offensive lineman, so I especially wanted to get his perspective on game,Yoshi and I discuss:THE CLAPPING
What is involved in playing center and why it can be so difficult
The defense shutting down Iowa’s running game
The proper time to get a holding call
How Scott Frost is running his offense like these games are a scrimmage
What it’s like to give up a sack
It’s well worth your time to get Yoshi’s point of view as it’s clear playing on the offensive line isn’t near as easy as we think it is.If you have questions for him, please leave them. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

Nebraska loses to Iowa 26-20. It’s frustrating. You could say it’s six in a row, or you could toss this year as a glorified scrimmage, which is what I recommend. Why else would we rotate quarterbacks? Why else would we continue to play a center who can’t snap the ball? The only thing I can think of is that this year means nothing, which is unfortunately true. There are very few teams who are playing for anything meaningful this year and Nebraska is not one of them. Hence, glorified scrimmage. Learn more about your ad choices.
