Let us know your thoughts in the comments below. And finally, we get more insight on Big Ten basketball this season and a particular team from Michigan. Paul and Zach join me after the Iowa game on Friday to talk about the 27-24 loss to Iowa that ended Nebraska’s 2019 football season. We waited until Monday on this one because we have a whole bunch of months to look back at the 2019 season and wonder what the happened. Why do we throw side to side all the time?
Why did Adrian Martinez stay in the game instead of being replaced by Luke McCaffrey?
How the name “McCaffrey” messes with Iowa’s heads.
Special teams play and the horror that is.
The defense. Why the light suddenly turned on for a while when it wasn’t there before.
Why didn’t we run more option?
We speculate heavily on what Scott Frost was doing. Nobody really knows, and Frost isn’t going to explain every detail of what happened this season, which means the next nine months will be spent re-analyzing every word he said. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

Hey everybody. Welcome to a very special Five Heart Podcast. It’s the episode where we don’t swear, and if we do, I very carefully cover it up with censorship. We understand that you may be traveling with your family to a Thanksgiving gathering. (Also, Happy Thanksgiving!) So wanted to keep this as clean as we could so you could enjoy it before tomorrow’s game.So we beat Maryland, soundly. A great time was had by all.And now it’s on to Iowa, and Jon believes (rightly so) that Iowa has settled for a lifetime of mediocrity. And as long as there’s a Ferentz in Iowa City, Greg agrees.Be sure to “Use Your Voice” and became a part of the show by calling (402) 327-1830. In this week’s episode all three Of Bangarangs & Daggers hosts are able to record at the same time. Yes, these fine men join forces and transform into what has become known as the Three Man Weave of podcasting. It is superior to any other group of three on the Corn Nation Radio Network. All other shall grovel below. Our heroes go over the Cayman Islands Classic. The win over Washington State in the first round and the loss to George Mason in the second. They also discuss the issues they have with just about everything else in college basketball to boot.In the end, they try to make it through the Duke vs. Stephen F. Austin game but our sleepy podcast editor had to finish up so he could go to bed and wake up for work in the morning. To be honest, we think he was getting bored. We have no idea now who won or lost....Finally, Patrick came in late. Really late and somewhat rudely but rightly corrects Nate.Follow us on Twitter at @Bangs&DagsFollow Kevin on Twitter at @SpartyOnHuskersFollow Patrick on Twitter at @PatrickGerhartFollow Nate on Twitter at @nmchugh85 Learn more about your ad choices. I’ve spent most of this season talking to Jeremy Slechta on the radio with Jimmy Sheil. It was about time I did a podcast with him.Mr. Schlechta and I spend most of the podcast talking about some very simple things. This year’s defense.
3-4 vs 4-3
Do defensive coaches really differ that much in their philosophies?
What does “get off the blocks mean”
What the is your true “playing weight”
When it’s okay to stomp theout of a guy by saying “Did you ever play college football?”
I think we take for granted what it’s like to play football. You go through your life probably thinking “those have no idea what it’s like to be an accountant/IT guy/lawyer/mechanic/plumber” and it’s true. This is why I spend some time on this podcast asking Jeremy some very basic questions.I hope you enjoy it. There was a whole lot of positive from the Maryland game. There was very little negative. You can find it, if you look hard enough, but Nebraska dominated in all three phases of the game. This is surprising given the season we’ve been through so far. Perhaps it’s hard to contemplate - we’ve all been looking for the negative so long it’s become a habit, somewhat like our beloved Huskers and losing.Paul and Jill join me as we discuss the game shortly after its conclusion. We also talk about Penn State and Ohio State, and how fan bases are never happy with their coaches no matter how successful they are. Learn more about your ad choices. By that I mean - sure the outcome wasn’t desired, but the effort was there. Dare I say, the HEART was there. This week on the show, Greg and Jon rehash their postgame thoughts from the weekend, while Hoss takes the opportunity to share his thoughts for the first time. What did Hoss see that he hasn’t seen in Husker football in almost twenty years?SILVER LINING, YOU TURDS!Here’s what we know: We make our first trip EVER to College Park to face the Maryland Terrapins this weekend. And thinking about the Iowa game really gets Hoss’ hot.Be sure to “Use Your Voice” and became a part of the show by calling (402) 327-1830. In this week’s episode we are back to two hosts. Kevin joins Patrick once again to discuss just about everything going on that they could think of without Nate. Hopefully by next week the entire gang can be in on the fun.Nothing is ever the same without Nate on the podcast.Fred Hoiberg had his first win against a tired yet talented South Dakota State squad last Friday and they dive into the plus and minuses of that game. They also tease about the Southern University game coming up this Friday. Also, if you are interested in the history of the Detroit Lions and their Thanksgiving Day game that goes back to the beginning of time. If you haven’t figured it out yet. You will learn more about the state of Michigan than you ever thought you would.Yep, we are pretty stoked about it too.Follow us on Twitter at @Bangs&DagsFollow Kevin on Twitter at @SpartyOnHuskersFollow Patrick on Twitter at @PatrickGerhartFollow Nate on Twitter at @nmchugh85 Learn more about your ad choices. It may seem hard to believe, looking at a 16-point loss to #15 Wisconsin, but there was improvement in this game. The offensive line looked competent, and because of that, Dedrick Mills had a break-out performance, racking up 188 yards against a stout defense. And Adrian Martinez looked better than he has most of the season. In this week’s Over Reaction, Greg Mehochko, Jon Johnston, and Nate McHugh talk about the good and the bad that continues to plague the Huskers. And since there was one Husker W this weekend in men’s athletics, we also talk a few minutes about Nebrasketball. This week on the Five Heart Podcast, Greg, Hoss, and Jon get you ready for Saturday’s match-up with Wisconsin. And to do that, we spend a little time talking with Tyler Hunt, Podcast Manager at Bucky’s 5th Quarter. We talk with Tyler about Wisconsin’s expectations heading into the year and how the losses to Illinois and Ohio State may have derailed post-season plans. We talk about the elephant in the backfield known as Jonathon Taylor, and what weaknesses, if any, the Badgers possess. After we let Tyler depart, we talk about why Wisconsinians (Wisconsegians - if we follow the Io_a way of naming things) are so happy. We discuss the youth on the Husker team and why we likely won’t see any more freshmen on the field in their redshirt year. And we do spend a few minutes talking about Nebraska’s second-favorite son, Garrett Nelson, as well as Damion Jackson being awarded Blackshirts. Be sure to “Use Your Voice” and became a part of the show by calling (402) 327-1830.
