This week on the show, Greg Hoss, and Jon talk about the silver lining that was the loss two years ago to the Northern Illinois Huskies. Why? Because we're previewing this season's Week Three match-up with the MAC Team. But there's also a lot of talk about the offensive line and position changes that helped bring about such depth. The defensive line gets some love too. And there's another citation involving a Husker and the sweet cheeba. We have a change after only one episode. The podcast will be called Jon’s PostLife Crisis until we decide on another name in the future. In my second episode, I talk with Jake Kocorowski. Jake is formerly with the SBNation’s Wisconsin site - Bucky’s Fifth Quarter. He has recently moved to Rivals. I’ve known him for a few years now and reviewed a book he co-wrote about Walk-ons at Wisconsin. Jake and I talk about the difference in how Nebraska and Wisconsin fans approach game day. My position is that Nebraskans see football games as more of a religious event where for Wisconsin fans, it’s clearly a social event. You could have a healthy debate as to whether that’s true, and certainly both fan bases have similarities in how they handle game day with tailgating, and a fair amount of abiding in adult beverages as examples. I have heard from some Nebraska fans that have gone to Madison that the fans there were so terrible that they would never go back. I ask Jake to respond to that. We discuss the “Eat - you” chant that Wisconsin students do during their home games and on how were if that were to happen at Nebraska that half the University would be burned to the ground by angry alumni. We discus rivalries, particularly the idea you can have only one. Kind of like marriage. I hope you enjoy the show. This week there is in no transcription because I flat out ran out of time and it would be around 10,000 words, something I not sure you want to read on a website. Thanks for listening. Give me some feedback about what else you’d like to hear. Check us out on the following podcast apps: PodBean, Apple Podcasts, Google Play, Stitcher, and Spotify! This week on the show, the guys have some fun with reports and quotes following Day One of Big Ten Media Days in Chi-Town. We took particular joy this week in making fun of Minnesota and their Head Coach PJ Fleck. Fleck, if you just tuned in, had this to say at the podium on Thursday. So after verbally abusing Minnesota (and Jon for reasons found within), we turn our attention to our Week 2 opponent, Colorado, with a lot less analysis than Husker Mike and pretty much just raw emotion. And there's a pretty special cameo at the end. Want a sweet Five Heart shirt? We also decided to enlighten you to our top 5 favorite beers. Now, we reserve the right to change those choices after this podcast has aired. Summary: I’ve decided to launch my own podcast. Right now, it has the dumbest name conceivable, “The Jon Johnston Show”. I’d like your feedback on what to name it. Right now, there are really two options: “The Jon Johnston Show” “Jon’s Post-Life Crisis” At the end of this article is a poll. Vote in it. I know we don’t get a lot of comments on podcast articles, but I expect comments as well. I’m open to suggestions. I talk about why I’m starting a podcast. I talk about what happened when I died. I talk about how your dying brain is like a warehouse on fire. And I hate peanut butter. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

In this week'e episode, our intrepid trio discusses a few pre-season polls that Nebraska (and its fans) popped up on this past week. We also look at a more established pre-season ranking as done by Phil Steele. After the break, the guys discuss the season-opening match-up with the University of South Alabama and decide to try to get their Head Coach Steve Campbell on the show as a guest. Fact is, there's still some stuff to discuss, even if it only tangentially connects to Nebraska. For example? DID MEL TUCKER LOSE HIS MIND? We discuss the insanity that was Mel Tucker (this is real news, not that fake Laviska Shenault stuff from a couple weeks ago. We opened up July with "Well, what has Nebraska done?" And that's how we opened the show. Then we started writing a parody song on the spot. Then in a healthy bit of team-building, Jon asked how Greg's son is doing with the potty training.
