Don't worry - we're going to talk about football, obviously.
We're a week away from kickoff. But we owe it to you the viewers to get the best volleyball writer in the state on back on the show, Corn Nation's very own Beth Merrigan. We will discuss 2025 expectations under new Nebraska Head Coach Dani Busboom Kelly, the new volleyball super league and Husker connection up in Omaha, and even the recent alumni game, which is always a fun event.
When we get into the football conversation, there's discussion about the final preparations for next week's season opener against Cincinnati.
We will get into some of the press conferences of the week. And while the first game of the season won't be played at Memorial Stadium, we'll talk about the new Husker-branded beer that will be offered in Lincoln this year.
We'll also talk about field and stadium names, just to unleash a little fury that I personally don't foresee us ever having to worry about.

Debuting several months before Star Wars, the Rock won the hearts of fans all over the world and still remains the only movie where I saw fans stand up and cheer in theaters - but do you remember which scene?
There’s plenty of memories and trivia as we dive into our favorite scenes and lines. And, yes, so many stories which surrounded the production as well as the movie’s aftermath which has spawned NINE total movies - with at least a 10th on the way - over two series; Rocky and Creed.
There’s plenty to unpack in the gritty original story which opened up a movie universe beginning on the dirty streets of 1970’s Philadelphia.
“Hey, it’s the bum from the dark!” Nah, it’s just me hosting the final chapter of Season 2 of All the Right Movies.Click the link above, join us & be sure to comment even if it’s a simple Go Big Red.

The latest Five Heart Podcast opened with technical glitches and lighthearted banter between hosts Greg and Minnie, joking about frozen screens, USB ports, and their “zero-budget” basement production.
The conversation shifted to Nebraska football, just two weeks from the season opener against Cincinnati at Arrowhead Stadium, noting over 60,000 tickets sold—mostly to Husker fans. Discussion centered on defensive analyst Phil Snow’s role mentoring younger coaches, stressing preparation, standards, and stability, as well as special teams coordinator Mike Ekeler’s motivational style, his “one shot, one kill” philosophy, and his push for excellence across all roles.
Freshman Australian punter Archie Wilson’s emotional press conference and unique ambidextrous kicking skills were highlighted, along with linebacker Vincent Shavers Jr.’s enthusiasm for blitzing and team camaraderie. Single-digit jersey assignments were announced, and wide receiver Dane Key’s 1,000-yard season goal was shared.
Other topics included the addition of Bud Light sales at Memorial Stadium and upcoming Husker volleyball matches.
The episode peaked with a comedic “Five Heart Theatre” skit parodying Greg and Minnie, which drew big laughs from viewers. The show closed with Q&A from the live audience, optimism for the season, and the reminder that “Five Heart is all the heart you need!”

We take a deep dive into Goon, the hockey classic starring Sean William Scott, famously know for being Stifler from American Pie - but this time as a very different character.
Jay Baruchel, who wrote the script, co-stars along with Liev Schreiber, Allison Pill, Eugene Levy and an unbelievable cast in this hilarious and underrated film.
You don’t need to be a hockey fan to enjoy this movie loosely based on the true story of eventual NHL enforcer Doug Smith. Goon takes you on Doug Glatt’s rise through the minors where you get to meet his lunatic teammates and coaches.
I can 100% guarantee laughs in this one & will probably crack on a few of the lines - especially the old play-by-play announcer’s outrage at the Canadian anthem being butchered by a Goth girl who thinks she nailed it. (“Well, that was borderline treasonous, and a disgrace yo our nation and its proud & storied history.)
And that’s about as clean as it gets. Join us. 😈

On this episode of Monday Night Therapy, host Minnie Hunt celebrates the countdown to Nebraska’s football season, noting growing national attention on the Huskers, fueled by expectations for QB Dylan Raiola and coach Matt Rhule in his third year. The featured guest, Brad Wilson, shared his unique perspective as Nebraska’s first disabled student manager in the early 1980s. Born with a birth defect affecting his right side, Wilson earned a spot on the team after writing to Tom Osborne and interviewing with Charlie McBride and legendary trainer George Sullivan.
Wilson described life as a student manager—running scout team plays, setting up equipment, assisting coaches, and even managing travel for the freshman team. He recalled behind-the-scenes stories of Osborne’s quiet leadership, camaraderie among players, and humorous moments, including practical jokes, famous visitors, and encounters with opponents’ fan bases. Wilson also recounted memorable games, like Mike Rozier’s record-chasing performance in 1983, and the deep family atmosphere fostered by the program.
He reflected on how the role gave him lifelong friendships, professional connections, and personal confidence, emphasizing the privilege of being part of Husker football history. The episode closed with appreciation from the chat and Hunt’s invitation for Wilson to return with more stories.

The Five Heart Podcast returns with hosts Greg and Minnie welcoming fall camp and counting down three weeks to Nebraska’s season opener against Cincinnati at Arrowhead Stadium. They discuss enduring Phoenix heat, fun experiments like cooking eggs on sidewalks, and then shift to Husker volleyball news. Nebraska is ranked No. 1 in the preseason AVCA poll, and former head coach John Cook has been named co-owner and GM of the Omaha Supernovas in the newly merged U.S. professional volleyball league.
Football talk centers on new defensive coordinator John Butler, praised for his no-nonsense style, high standards, and commitment to playing talented transfers like Marquise Watson-Trent. Defensive line prospects Riley Van Poppel and Elijah Judy are highlighted as successors to Ty Robinson and Nash Hutmacher. The hosts discuss fall camp limitations—only nine full-pad practices—and Butler’s emphasis on fundamentals and communication.
The conversation turns playful as Greg challenges Minnie’s tendency to compliment other Big Ten teams, sparking humorous “fan treason” debates in the live chat. They also touch on quarterback Dylan Raiola’s potential, cutting turnovers, and team conditioning. As always, the Holger Maniacs in chat provide lively side commentary, making the episode a blend of football analysis, Husker pride, and good-natured banter.

It’s time for the movie based on the book about baseball sabermetrics which somehow ended up being entertaining as hell.
Starring Brad Pitt, Jonah Hill and the always amazing Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Moneyball covered the beginning of the Billy Beane era as GM of the Oakland A’s, a team whose ownership was simply incapable of competing with rich MLB franchises such as the New York Yankees.
Beane was determined to find a new way of valuing players in order to find the ones who could produce runs at cut-rate salaries in order to compete on an unfair playing field.
Yep, sounds boring, yet the screen version was funny, heartwarming, engaging and suspenseful. Yes, the saying is trite as hell, but it was a home run.
Jump in for the watch & throw your thoughts in the comments - even if only to give us a GO BIG RED.

On this episode of Monday Night Therapy on Corn Nation, host Minnie Hunt and co-host Fred Sacco welcomed an active chat audience for a wide-ranging discussion on Nebraska football. The conversation mixed humor, nostalgia, and analysis, with Fred sporting a vintage 1997 coaches pullover and reminiscing about past Husker gear. Early chatter focused on fall camp updates, the Big Red Preview, and new special teams energy under coach Mike Ekeler. They highlighted Australian punter Archie Wilson’s athleticism and arm strength, as well as transfer kicker Kyle Cunanan’s powerful leg.
Talk shifted to offensive line improvements, with optimism about depth, continuity, and a possible Joe Moore Award bid. Jake Butt of the Big Ten Network and analyst Phil Steele both praised Nebraska’s attention to detail and playoff potential, fueling cautious excitement. The duo previewed upcoming opponents, noting that most tough games are at home and only Penn State looms as a clear underdog matchup.
Defensive standouts like Vincent Shavers, Marquis Buford, and Oklahoma transfer Dasan McCullough drew attention, as did running backs Emmett Johnson and breakout candidate Makai Nelson. While Minnie projected optimism, Fred tempered expectations, stressing proof on the field. The show closed with playful banter, shirt auctions, and a “Go Big Red” send-off.
