I get together with Dylan Guenther, our wrestling writer, and Todd Wolverton, a good friend who has a ton of wrestling experience as a wrestler, coach, and official, and we discuss:The Big Ten Wrestling tourney
The upcoming NCAA Wrestling Tourney which now will not happen
Nebraska’s wrestling history
Why there aren’t more Nebraska wrestling fans given the success of the program
This was recorded on Wednesday, March 11, 2020, the day that will live in infamy as the day that the Covid-19 virus demolished sports for the year. We discuss the events of the day.Be sure to “Use Your Voice” and became a part of the show by calling (402) 327-1830. Well I’ve never wanted to record a podcast episode more than this episode. Why you ask? Because today, Coach Hoiberg announced the addition of two new members of the Nebraska basketball team for the first game of the Conference Tournament.Who could they be?Well it’s two current members of the Nebraska football team who just started spring football. So before we got to talk about the additions of Noah Vedral and Brant Banks, we talked about the 15th and 16th straight loss in conference play for Nebraska. Also, there appears to be a small undercurrent of Nebraska basketball fans who are questioning Fred Hoiberg and wonder if he’s the best guy for the job. We talk about that a little bit. Then we get to Vedral and Banks. It was a fun episode.Lastly, we end with a couple of big announcements. Well one we could tell you about, the other should be known within the next week or so.Be sure to download and subscribe to our podcast on whatever platform you prefer, and you’ll also get all of the other great, but not quite as great, Corn Nation Radio podcasts as well. Wrestling. It’s an intense brawl to be best. It’s one-on-one, you versus the person across from you. This week on the Five Heart Podcast, we’re joined by Dylan Guenther to talk all about the Husker Matmen. Studs and standouts on this year’s squad, incoming freshmen who should shine, and a look at the Big Ten Tournament, where Jon begs Dylan for some good news!Be sure to “Use Your Voice” and became a part of the show by calling (402) 327-1830. This week’s episode of SB Nation’s Nebraska basketball podcast was more fun than it should have been.It shouldn’t have been much fun since Nebraska continued to lose basketball games and are setting records in the absolute wrong way.Kevin and Nate quickly reviewed the losses to Northwestern and Ohio State and moved on to a question.Which is a more for-sure bet to “get it done?” Scott Frost or Fred Hoiberg. What “get it done” means would change from person to person but we at least took a shot at it.Be sure to download and subscribe to our podcast on whatever platform you prefer, and you’ll also get all of the other great, but not quite as great, Corn Nation Radio podcasts as well. Here at Corn Nation, we’re devising a new way to football. New scoring, thanks to our very own Paul Dalen. It gets complicated, but by God, every decision is worth points. And that makes it fun. Plus, what do the stats say about Scott Frost’s second year at the helm? Also, Paul admits that he was wrong about the XFL’s kickoff rule, and Greg went to a Battlehawks game this past weekend and had a great time! And finally, we lost a few kickers this week. And we hope that Scott Frost’s new Special Teams Analyst is ready to do some good work, because we’re Kicker U, dammit!Be sure to “Use Your Voice” and became a part of the show by calling (402) 327-1830. Well friends Nebraska has now lost 12 conference games in a row. Kevin lets us know that we should be impressed! It is a record! It is a record setting season!Woo hooo!We talked about the most recent losses to Michigan State and Illinois. However we try and end on a bright note as Nebraska has received the commitment for Wisconsin’s second leading scorer from THIS season. At least there is something positive to talk about.Be sure to download and subscribe to our podcast on whatever platform you prefer, and you’ll also get all of the other great, but not quite as great, Corn Nation Radio podcasts as well. Well, the best laid plans of mice and men, am I right? We had a plan for this week’s show. It was going to center around Paul’s new way of scoring football. You thought the NFL was going to change the way they play a season of football. Mere child’s play to what Paul has cooked up!But life intervenes, as it’s wont to do. And on top of that, the Old Man is sick. So we called an audible on gameday and brought it a couple of more than worthy replacements!Nate and Jill are special guests this week to talk all things basketball and then a little football.Be sure to “Use Your Voice” and became a part of the show by calling (402) 327-1830. Nate and Kevin are back again this week with another episode as the season rapidly draws to a close. From morbid children’s fairy tales to clueless sharks, this week continues to bring you a host of different angles of how to approach Nebrasketball fandom. But rest assured, we obviously do cover the Nebraska Cornhuskers loss to the Wisconsin Badgers along with the upcoming game against the Michigan State Spartans.Other topics include the coming transfer rule changes being discussed by the NCAA, recruiting efforts, and old Eminem song lyrics.
