Nebraska baseball - where they’re at and the wild two weeks left
Lexi Sun returns for another season. She is the closest thing to an Amazon goddess that exists - how much could she make if NIL gets enacted within the next year?
Then, for a stupid offseason topic, we discuss the following:And what wild beasts do Americans think they themselves can take on?You have to have a plan.I could kill a grizzly bear. On this very special episode of the Five Heart Podcast, HOSS FREAKIN' REUTER IS BACK! He's taken some time away from the show because he's in a Masters program. But he took a little time to talk with me about some of the mental obstacles that have plagued the Huskers in the last, say...20 years. That's right, 20. November 23, 2001, to be exact. The date that, according to Hoss, stripped away any and all mystique around the Husker football program. Since then, Hoss claims, the Huskers have had a self-efficacy deficit. What does that mean? We find out. And we learn about proximal goals ("aim small, miss small"), and two words that Hoss has been harping on for so long that we almost put it on a t-shirt...incremental improvement. This is a solid episode and we hope to have more Hoss going forward, at least as his schedule will allow. Part of the Five Heart Podcast - Jon and Todd - review this past weekend as members of the Nebraska media. There was a beautiful series against Rutgers at Haymarket Park. Beautiful because there were a lot of fans in attendance and it was wonderful to see and hear them. Being swept by Rutgers? Not so much. There was a wonderful Nebraska football spring game! We watch our beloved Huskers zip around the field, then we pretend our analysis means something. The “Welcome Back to Memorial Stadium” piece by Scott Frost was incredible.Watch our weekend review! As of now I’m sure you heard it but another sports media personality, not an expert, (Paul Finebaum) said that Nebraska fans are still living in the glorious 90s. As I say in the podcast, I think Paul Finebaum is an uniformed troll who is a broken clock. He knows that he’s a troll and he knows Nebraska fans will respond. He also isn’t wrong about the fanbase. It’s the best and worst part of Nebraska football. With that said, I think it’s lazy to continue to make the “living in the 90’s” comment regarding Nebraska football. This is particularly true after the past decade. Please give it a listen. Please subscribe and download the podcast. Leave a review and let me know what you think! If there’s a football topic that you would like me to comment on for less than 10 minutes then let me know. I appreciate your time. It’s another Five Heart Podcast episode! This time, Greg is out. Todd is out. Our beloved Beth is in to talk about the NCAA volleyball tourney. Jon, Todd, and Nate get together this week as Greg is out again. The three of us discuss:The NCAA’s latest mess - the women’s Volleyball tournament. There are to be no broadcast crews for the first two rounds of the tournaments. There are to be no locker rooms for the teams until the Elite Eight. The floors are said to be of questionable safety.
Jon goes on a rant (shocking!) about how the NCAA is a giant money-laundering scheme.
Jason Peter and Jay Foreman are involved in Husker practices. Is this a good thing? What possible purpose could they serve?
This leads to a long discussion of discipline. Nebraska has had a discipline issue for a very long time. How will this get fixed?
Is discipline a matter of experience? (Note that over the past couple years, transfers have been captains, rather than guys who have been around for years.)
Nate brings up the phrase, “GET OLD, STAY OLD” at which Jon takes personal offense.
Is discipline a matter of focus?
