I’m not sure what’s more surprising after Saturday...the Huskers’ third straight loss to Minnesota or Jon’s unlikely rise to fame.On this episode of the Five Heart Podcast, Jon, Todd, and Greg share their thoughts in a similarly unfiltered and uncensored way. And if you have a problem with that, please stop telling people to sit down at football games.Go Big Red. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

The old crusty duo of Todd and Jon are together this week for an episode of the Five Heart Podcast! This episode includes a review of a great game with Michigan. The duo try not to talk too much about the officiating and feel that it took away from what was an incredible game between two pretty evenly matched teams.Todd was at the Michigan game and gives a full report what it was like at Memorial Stadium. Jon was at a wedding and gives a somewhat weird report on that.Todd and Jon give you a preview of this year’s Minnesota Gopher team. The Gophers are down two running backs - Mo Ibrahim and Trey Potts. They have some good players but have been wildly inconsistent this season. There are predictions! Learn more about your ad choices. It’s that time of the year when Nebraska takes on Minnesota for the historic $5 Bits of Broken Chair Trophy! In today’s episode we interview David Moore who is apart of the group who put together and runs the charity side of the trophy. Well, he’s actually more than that. He also helped build the trophy itself.Along with the trophy there is a yearly competition between the two fanbases. For Minnesota fans the donations will go to the University of Minnesota’s Masonic Children’s Hospital and for Husker fans it goes to the Team Jack Foundation. As of the recording of this episode the Huskers have a very nice lead in the standings but could always use more.To donate to either the Team Jack Foundation or the University of Minnesota’s Masonic Children’s Hospital please go to www.brokenchairtrophy.comPlease Subscribe!Be sure to download and subscribe to our podcast on whatever platform you prefer (that way you won’t miss next week’s very special episode), and you’ll also get all of the other great, but not quite as great, Corn Nation Radio podcasts as well.Follow Patrick on Twitter at @PatrickGerhartFollow Corn Nation on Twitter @CornNationLeave a Review! You could go out on the Apple podcast app and leave a review for us as well or send us feedback by making a comment on this article. Please Listen And Share! If you don’t feel like subscribing, you can listen in the player below. This week on the Five Heart Podcast, Jon and Greg look back at the 56-7 win over Northwestern last week. How'd the offense perform? How about that defense? And how nice was it to not have to rely on special teams (though 84 yards per punt average is pretty nifty)?Looking ahead at Michigan, how do the Huskers stack up? Well let's look at the #9 and undefeated Weasels.Winners over Western Michigan, Washington (who the week prior lost to FCS Montana), Northern Illinois, Rutgers, and - let's face it - an atypical Wisconsin team. They've held their opponents to no more than 17 points, and seem to have "the guy" at quarterback for the first time in Jim Harbaugh's tenure. But have they really beaten anyone of consequence? They remind me of some of the Husker teams of the Pelini era that started off 5-0 or 6-0 while playing lower non-conference opponents and lesser Big XII competition. Then they get on the big stage and we see what they truly are. That's how I'm hoping this week's game goes. That the Huskers expose Michigan. Dare I say Nebraska's losses to top-5 Oklahoma and top-20 Sparty are more impressive than what the Weasels have accomplished so far.But that's why they play the game. And Jon hit the nail on the head and inadvertently provided the title of this episode: Prove It. It's time for Nebraska to show the world, on another primetime stage, that last week's 56-7 win over a Pat Fitzgerald defense was not a fluke, but a big step forward for Scott Frost's Huskers. This week on the Five Heart Podcast we had four to start. Then even before it started one of members of the podcast backed out because “I’m the only adult awake in my house and I have a child that is still awake and I need to be responsible.”Well Greg was gone.Nate was ready for the challenge. Not only to replace Greg. But to be better than Greg.He succeeded. How do you know? Because he wrote this article and he can say whatever he wants.Lebron is better than Jordan. The Cardinals are a terrible franchise. The Steelers are okay. I have nothing against them. [Editor’s Note - Nate is a lawyer by trade, and lawyers are liars in nice suits.]It’s all true.On to Nebraska football. The Five Heart Podcast tripod addressed the heartbreaking loss of Michigan State. Then they wondered what else will happen next. How else will Nebraska tear out the hearts and souls of Nebraska fans?Todd actually suggested that we make a list so we can check things off as they go as they continue to drag us further and further down into desperation and despair.Todd reminds us of how great an athlete he was in high school. The guy can actually catch punts! We need that on this team. Then we move on to Northwestern for the battle of NU. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

This week on the Five Heart Podcast, Jon, Todd, and a very tardy Greg discuss the good and the bad of the 23-16 loss to #3 Oklahoma. We loved the effort, we hated the miscues. We loved the (five) heart, we hated the outcome. We loved the progress we saw. We still hated having victory within our reach and yet not able to finish. Then we talked about this Saturday’s primetime game against Michigan State. Can the Huskers contain Sparty? Will Michigan State’s offensive weapons be too much for the Blackshirts? Will the Huskers’ air attack move the football against the 108th passing defense in the country?FIND OUT THIS SATURDAY!And enjoy the show. Learn more about your ad choices.
