Ryan Tweedy talks about the making of his Husker fan film - “Through These Gates”, which was released in 2013.If you’re not familiar with the movie, here’s what IMDB says about it: This film follow the director on his journey back home to Lincoln, Nebraska and all over the country to find out what it means to be a Cornhusker by comparing the culture of the community to that of the hometown football team.So Tweedy and Jon discuss Husker fans - what’s wonderful about Nebraska fans, and what is problematic. Tweedy talks about different interviews he did with and how he made up the film as he was going. Most of the interviews came about by accident - running into a person who knew another person. How he called Barry Switzer while Switzer was ordering Chik-Fil-A, for example, or a happenstance discussion with the president of Northwestern after a NU vs NU game in Lincoln. Check us out. We’re trying to figure out where we’re going this offseason. Suggestions are certainly welcome. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

Heyooooooo - it’s time for another Monday Night Therapy session!Scott Dochterman from The Athletic joined us for an episode to talk (mostly) about Iowa football. And we did. In fact, after going through Iowa’s team, including Brian Ferentz at offensive coordinator, Scott stated he expects the Hawkeyes to win 10 games in 2023. Why did he say this? How does he think this way? Well, when you do what I did before the show - wash all the Iowa hate off you and scrub real hard - you can stand back and look at Iowa from an objective point of view. They should have, even with Brian Ferentz, a pretty good offense. Then they have a Phil Parker defense. Listen to the show. It is as close to a Hawkeye Nation show as you’re going to get, because TODD JOINS IN ON THE IOWA LOVE FEST for a bit, but this was my goal, as I want to learn as much as possible about our opponents this season. I believe it’s as detailed a discussion about Iowa football as you’ll find. You want to know your opponent don’t you? ESPECIALLY IF YOU’RE BETTING ON GAMES. Support Us! Get A T-Shirt! We’re officially into the off-season, and while we initially had the notion to visit with Ryan Tweedy about his documentary “Through These Gates,” it’s not just Star Wars Day, but it’s also his birthday. So he’s off with his family celebrating. As I mentioned, it’s Star Wars Day, so May the Fourth be with you. This show may inadvertently dip its toe into some pop culture waters. Blame Todd from this past Monday Night Therapy. And yes, Casey Thompson and Ajay Allen are in the transfer portal. We can’t do anything about that, but we have the discussion of whether or not one of our quarterbacks, Thompson or Logan Smothers, might return. Patrick joined us and we had a discussion about Nebrasketball. Our beloved Huskers are the #2 team nationally at getting good players out of the transfer portal. We have that discussion, along who the transfers are. Patrick does a dissertation supporting Deion Sanders and what he’s doing at Colorado. It’s a good listen. We do have a Nebraska native coming home to play for the Husker men’s basketball team, so we will discuss that as well and how we are even getting Iowa players to flip. On this episode of Monday Night Therapy, Todd and I talked about: Football players in the transfer portal! Casey Thompson - why did he leave? How much will it hurt?
Ajay Allen - Todd thinks he was the best running back we had. He’d take Ajay over Rahmir Johnson! This comment had me clutching imaginary pearls as one commenter stated.
Stephon Wynn -
Richard Torres
Logan Smothers
We concluded that Matt Rhule has won the 2023 offseason national champship, crushing all others. Cayden Becker - a walk-on player who will play TE/H-back at Nebraska transferring in from Wyoming. NFL DraftOnly two Cornhuskers drafted: Ochaun Mathis and Trey Palmer
Iowa had some players drafted that they seemed to barely use.
Todd believes the reason Green Bay drafted Lukas Van Ness is because his sisters are hot as is his girlfriend, and as influencers they will bring much money to Green Bay.
VolleyballHad their spring game event in Central City
82,000 people bought tickets to watch volleyball in Memorial Stadium
There is a discussion of hot volleyball players, which causes me to remember Annie Adamczak
BaseballHas entered the Jekyll/Hyde part of the season
NDSU and Maryland
Softball0-3 vs. Northwestern - ouch! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

Nebraska had their spring football game/scrimmage this past weekend, so there was much to discuss about that. Two things I know: Jeff Sims looks like a starter
Nebraska’s offensive line has so little depth that you’d well better reset your expectations for 2023
Greg and I were joined by Ryan Tweedy for this show, and you can look forward to Tweedy being with us for the duration. It will take a while for us to adjust, but we’ll get there. We had a lot of discussions on this show, in particular: Ranking Nebraska coaches since Tom Osborne retired.
Review of the Nebraska spring game
Is baseball a sport?
What is Deion Sanders up to at Colorado
It never occurred to me until tonight (when we were doing the video), but the fascination by Nebraska fans of Deion Sanders and Colorado really has more to do with our morality (real or perceived) versus their, right?
Is Deion Sanders hoping to use Colorado to jump to a higher profile job? (It worked for Mel Tucker)

The Tuesday game against Creighton was suspended due to weather. Stupid weather. Stupid siding on my house that ended up in the yard after storms. But I digress. And we were excited to be joined by Aaron (a Corn Nation baseball beat writer AND semi-regular Chatterfield), who talked about the the sweep of Northwestern and when Nebraska and Creighton will finish game two of their season series. Also, there’s a little bit of a “state of the union” with the Husker baseball team. And wouldn’t you know...the Nebraska Spring Game is Saturday. Among the topics involved are the return of two legends: Frank Solich and THE Herbie Husker. We also talk about what we plan to see and what we hope to see from Matt Rhule’s first Red-White Game. Rhule has said he wouldn’t hold anything back in the four-quarter, 60-minute showcase. There better be a fullback. And Jon, Greg, and Aaron have some generational differences in the definition of a particular phrase, which leads to some unintended hilarity. Learn more about your ad choices.
