Well, we are back live less than twenty-four hours after the conclusion of an exciting 28-10 Nebraska win over the Colorado Buffaloes.
Greg, Hoss, and Big Game Jake will discuss Greg’s trip to Lincoln and dining with Hoss. These two friends, fellow Husker fans, and longtime broadcast buddies finally met in real life for the very first time. And to top it all off, the Huskers handled the team from Boulder.
While the second half was, dare we say, a bit of a dud, the first half was such that it built a 28-0 lead and the defense stood on business in the second half to five the Huskers a 2-0 record and propel the team into the Top 25. But there were some really remarkable moments offensively and defensively in the contest.
Greg’s first time stepping into Memorial Stadium and it could not have been written any better.

Nebraska football, does it get any better than this week? It’s what us fans live for!
The rivalry against Nebraska and Colorado is long touted as one of the most intense in CFB. Some say that Coach Prime has helped perpetuate the indignation of the “Boulderites”.
Familiarity really does breed contempt! It’s our 2nd match up under these 2nd year Head Coaches; Matt Rhule and Deion Sanders. Both of whom are striving to rebuild broken football programs.
Ours vs. theirs. Dylan Raiola vs Shadeur Sanders, who has the better Quarterback? One is a Senior who has mastered his craft, the son of the mighty ‘Prime Time’. The other is a 5 star Freshman phenomenon who just happens to be a Husker since birth.
The RED LETTER rivalry. Aug. 1982, the Buffaloes HC Bill McCartney announced Nebraska as a rival. He wrote ‘Cornhuskers’ in red letters on their schedule which was posted in the team house. UMMM, what did we ever do to you?
Thursday night, please join us as we look at why Colorado fans have decided that hating a team feels better than loving their own. We will discuss our opponents weaknesses and give our game predictions as Greg and Minnie prepare for their trips to Lincoln.

Well, the Huskers are 1-0. It’s not much, except an improvement over several years of losing the first game of the season. And on top of that, 107 Huskers saw some sort of action in the 40-7 win over the University of Texas - El Paso.
Dylan Raiola looked as advertised, as he went oan to be named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week. And the targets he found in the field, Isaiah Neyor, Jahmal Banks, and the rest, more than produced. Plus, Dante Dowdell, Emmett Johnson, Rahmir Johnson, and Gabe Ervin Jr all found success running the ball.
The defense was crisp, allowing just 205 yards.
Greg and Hoss break down the win, discuss the team’s depth, and take a little look at this weekend’s battle against Colorado.

Tonight we’ll be looking ahead to the Nebraska-Colorado game this Saturday night in Lincoln.
It’s a game which will be full of national attention, excitement, and probably plenty of fireworks.
Joining me for a lively discussion will be Jack Barsh and Ryland Scholes of Ralphie Report, our SB Nation Colorado Buffalo site.
I’m sure the discussion will be lively and fun and we’ll talk about everything:
Shedeur Sanders
Travis Hunter
Coach Deion Sanders
Colorado’s Offensive Line
Colorado’s Defense
We’ll be discussing what to expect from both teams during the game and we’ll get to hear the Colorado perspective on Coach Prime and what he’s done with the Buffaloes in his second year.
Is it all about the Sanders’?
Is it all about showmanship?
Is Colorado capable of playing good football across the board?
What effects has Coach Prime had on the University of Colorado?

Tonight please join us as we christen the season with our predictions.
Jon Johnston, Greg Mehochko and Minnie Hunt will be our panel as well as you our Chatterfields sharing all of our hope and dreams for this football season.
Also, we got a new Tight End to discuss, Mac Markway transfer from LSU. He has already been practicing with the team and we will find out if he is actually going to be on the roster to play this season. Mac was one of the highest rated players out of Missouri for the 2023 class. While at LSU he playd in 12 games, started once. He caught 3 passes for 16 yards and had 1 Touchdown against Georgia State.
We will also discuss the depth chart for the Husker Football Season. We know who the starters are, were there any suprises or concerns? What about the 2's and 3's? Blackshirts got handed out this week as well. One of the best traditions of our beloved Husker Season. These guys are our pride and joy and tonight we will honor them.
Lastly, lets talk about that team from way down south, the one that some might have written off as easy W. UTEP will be our first game of the season this Saturday in Lincoln. There head coach Scotty Walden will not give us an easy win, in fact they are coming to town with something to prove.
All this and lots more tonight. Please be here and help us christen this Husker Season. GBR!

This week on the Corn Nation Overreaction show, which will be LIVE, we get to know Hoss’ friend Jake. Apparently Jake really wanted to be on the show.
Don’t get ideas...this is still a vehicle to launch Hoss to the next level of football analysis so that he eventually gets a job with the Big Ten Network. By that I mean...we don’t usually have guests.
But we’ll get to know Jake and learn about his Husker fandom and what e’s been drinking to survive the last twenty years of Nebraska football.
As we turn our attention to the 2024 season, we will look at realistic expectations for Dylan Raiola as well as how we think the Blackshirts will fair in the second year of Tony White’s defense.
Will Nebraska have a 1,000-yard rusher? Will they have a 1,000-yard receiver?
Could they have both?
How about one BOLD prediction for the upcoming year?
And last but not least, we’ll hear Hoss and Jake’s game predictions for every game of the season.

You’ve heard the saying a picture is worth a thousand words. Capturing the emotions of pride, hope, excitement, joy, nostalgia, loyalty, courage, and even pain is what Licensed Husker Artist Ashley Spitsnogle has mastered.
Today on Husker Talk, Ashley tells the story of how drawing horses and mermaids as a girl led to painting our Husker heroes. As a native, her passion for athletics was ingrained at a young age, sitting next to her Dad watching the Huskers play on TV every Saturday.
Her passion grew when she attended an art school in Florence Italy. This is where Ashley realized she would be happy to paint for the rest of her life.
Ashley’s mainstay as an artist is philanthropy:
She illustrated the children’s book ‘Josh the Baby Otter’, which brings awareness to child safety around water.
‘The Last Tunnel Walk’ was a painting for Heartfelt Inc. which benefited grieving parents. Depicting Brook Berringer and Sam Foltz, two Husker football players who lost their lives to fatal accidents, as they walk the tunnel walk together toward a bright light.
A painting of the legendary coach Tom Osborne and Brook Berringer for the TeamMates Mentoring program that The Osbornes began in 1991. As she said this painting depicts so many aspects of Husker football and mentorship.
She even used her talent to shed light on the Nebraskan farmer at a critical moment in time. As they endured flooding and she saw the pain it caused, Ashley painted an unforgettable image titled “Healing the Heartland” depicting how others gathered around their neighbors to help by trucking in loads of hay.
I really enjoyed hearing her stories of hope and excitement for Husker Football as she spoke about her extraordinary Husker paintings.
Thursday, August 29th Ashley is hosting an art event with all 3 Heisman Trophy Winners in attendance. The event is at Main Street Studios & Art Gallery in Elkhorn, to attend, RSVP https://www.ashleyspitsnogle.com/ and please keep in mind this is not a memorabilia signing event.

Season 1 comes to close as we review the sweet tale of a golfer who knows greatness courts failure - and whose inner child needs a spanking.
Tin Cup came out in the summer of ‘96 and immediately shoved in next to Caddyshack for the title of Greatest Golf Movie Ever. I love Caddyshack, but I my vote goes to the Cup.
Kevin Costner’s hilarious portrayal of the goofy, loveable and self-destructive Roy McAvoy is one of his finest - and I’ll fight to the death defending that. The top-notch cast included Don Johnson, Cheech Marin, Rene Russo, a pack of “that guys” as his crew and many cameos from real-life pros and TV personalities of the time.
The script was both lyrical and hilarious and you don’t have to love golf to love this movie.
Tin Cup - join us.

Cardiologist Dr. Lou Kohl will join me tonight. Dr Kohl is my cardiologist, the man who saved my life just over nine years ago. On August 21st, 2015, I had a Widowmaker heart attack, and I was dead for over 20 minutes. I have a brain injury because of this experience.
I realize we all want to be talking about football.
I feel like I wouldn’t be doing my job as a survivor if I didn’t make other people aware of what it’s like to go through a heart attack and what it’s like to deal with heart problems. There is a massive amount of anxiety, anger and depression that comes with a heart attack.
There’s a good chance you or someone you love will deal with this during your lifetime.
Look at these statistics from the CDC:
Heart disease in the United States
Heart disease is the leading cause of death for men, women, and people of most racial and ethnic groups.1
One person dies every 33 seconds from cardiovascular disease.1
In 2022, 702,880 people died from heart disease. That’s the equivalent of 1 in every 5 deaths.12
Heart disease cost about $252.2 billion from 2019 to 2020.2This includes the cost of health care services, medicines, and lost productivity due to death.
Heart attack
In the United States, someone has a heart attack every 40 seconds.3
Every year, about 805,000 people in the United States have a heart attack.3 Of these, 605,000 are a first heart attack, and 200,000 happen to be people who have already had a heart attack.3
About 1 in 5 heart attacks are silent—the damage is done, but the person is not aware of it.
We will discuss, from my side, what it’s like to go through and survive a heart attack and from Dr. Kohl’s side, what people overlook at about heart attack - common misconceptions, etc.

On the newest Five Heart Podcast, Greg, Minnie, and the finest group of truehearted Chatterfields will discuss all the current events of Husker Football.
We will discuss the takeaways from press conferences with players Micah Mazzcua, Mikai Gbayor, and Turner Corcoran. As well as Special Teams Coach Ed Foley and Head Coach Matt Rhules’ key points.
We got to see the 2nd episode of Chasing 3, Fall Camp, which gave us superfans another taste of the intense Husker training camp.
Single-digit uniforms were voted on and given by the players, so who was added? Were there any surprises? Is there anyone we thought should have received a number that didn’t?
Lastly, our favorite (especially Minnie’s) 5-Star Freshman Quarterback has been named the starter against UTEP. This in and of itself is reason enough to celebrate! Or is it? Will Greg try to rain on the parade?
Looking forward to a fun night. Please join us!
